Schengen Agreement

In 1985 the abolition of intra-EU border checks in EU countries with direct, common borders was stipulated in the so-called Schengen Agreement (Schengen is a city in Luxembourg); the agreement was therefore the starting point for the from border control unhindered passenger traffic and movement of goods between the participating Schengen countries.
